Policies and Procedures

Returning Clients:

If you have not visited Pet Companions within the last two months, your dog must be re-introduced. Please reach out to schedule a visit prior to scheduling daycare or boarding.

Why? Safety is our #1 priority for the dogs and our staff. It is imperative that you and our team see that your dog feels safe and comfortable here especially before Take-off!

  • New Client Consultations are by reservation only. The cost is $40.00 for a consultation.

    Please visit our Consultation page, fill in the Consultation Form and then select the day/time that works best.

    On the day of your visit, please bring vaccination records and any medical information we need to know. You can also email vaccinations ahead of time to: reservations@petcompanionsinc.com.Without proof of vaccinations, the consult cannot take place.

    We are located at 271 Main Street in Reading. We are a Yellow house with red shutters and a White fence in front. Follow the Paw Prints on the White Fence to the front door.

    You will be welcomed and brought upstairs to our consultation room to meet one of our senior staff members. Once we get to know your dog and review your intake form together, we will invite your dog to visit our front yard and meet other dogs. You must sign the intake form so we have record that understand our
    policies and we can take your dog to the Vet, if needed.

    During the yard introduction, you may watch from one of our observation windows above. This is a great way to see first hand if your dog in comfortable and if we are a good fit for each other.

    If your dog passes the consultation, we will invite your dog to stay a few hours to get comfortable.

    If your pup requires another visit to feel more comfortable, additional arrangements will need to be made for a retrial. This is not uncommon so do not worry! We highly recommend weekends for more timid/first time dogs.

    All clients must attend daycare one (1) time a week to be considered active. We recommend you select your day and book recurring appointments to hold your spot. We currently have a waitlist on several days.

  • DROP OFF: 6:00 - 10:00AM

    PICK-UP: 1:00 - 8:00PM

    DOORS ARE LOCKED at 8:00 PM for the safety of the Staff and Dogs.

    There is a $25 fee if you pick-up after 8PM. Staff will not open the door without approval from Management. This is for the safety of the Staff and the Boarding dogs.

  • Daycare dogs are required to visit a minimum of one (1) time a week to be considered active.

    We recommend you secure preferred “days” with recurring appointments. We can help get that set-up. We currently have a waitlist for Tuesday and Thursday.

    Same day/less than 24-hour bookings will be charged $55/day.

    All dogs over 6 months must be spayed/neutered

    Dogs must have a name tag/collar on them. This tag must have the pup’s name and the last name of the family.

  • Boarders must be dropped off by 10:00 AM on the first day of boarding and picked-up by 10:00 AM the last day of Boarding. If your dog remains past 10:00 AM, they will be check-in as a daycare dog and daycare fee will be applied.

    Boarders must be clients that have utilized the Pet Companions in the past. If you have not visited in over two months, we require a reintroduction.

    We require that your dog(s) visit Pet Companions Daycare at least two times during the 2 weeks prior to boarding, unless approve by management. These visits are to ensure your dog(s) feels comfortable with the pack and show no significant signs of stress. Stress is very dangerous for all dogs and staff in a Daycare and Boarding setting especially for prolonged periods.

    There is no charge for feeding meals to Boarders. If you “miscounted” or missed your flight, have no fear! No one will starve! We will serve Pet Companions “House Food” (Canidae - no fillers, no artificial ingredients, no artificial preservatives) There is a $10 charge for house-provided food.

    If youT dog requires medicine, there is is a $7 daily charge to administer. It is the responsibility of the client to correctly divide medication and place it into pill cassettes (AM/PM). The pill cassettes should be labeled with your dog’s first and last name. We will not accept medication in any other manner but pill cassettes. All details should be included in the portal.

    Boarding reservations require a 50% deposit.

    We only accept healthy dogs into the facility. We reserve the right to refuse a dog if the circumstances warrant.

  • We feed puppies for free until six (6) month!

    For Daycare dogs, there is a $5.00 charge per meal if you bring your own food. If you require our “House Food” there will be a $10.00 charge per meal.

    Daycare lunch bags must be marked with your Dog’s first and last name to avoid any confusion at feeding time.

    All Food MUST be distributed and individually bagged according to the dog’s daily rations. We cannot accept the food in any other manner - no bins, no bags. (Labeled cans and fresh/frozen foods are acceptable with names clearly written.)

    All food details must be entered in the client portal for clear reference for our team.

  • All daycare dogs must visit a minimum of one (1) time per week. This helps with dog routine and familiarity with the other dogs. It also ensure
    you hold your weekly spot. (We currently have a waiting list on two day and are close on a third.)

    Boarding dogs require a re-visit if they have not been in over a month. We also require dogs to attend daycare two times before a long stay to ensure they feel settled and do not show signs of potential stress before you jet across the country/world! Stress in a boarding environment is dangerous for dogs and the people caring for them.

  • Payment is due when the services are rendered. Accounts running over 30 days will be subject to suspension and your pup will not be able to return until the balance is paid and current. A valid credit card must be kept on file. Cash and check are accepted, if that is your preferred payment.

  • Boarding on Standard dates:
    More than 10 days out = 100% refund
    48 Hours = 50% refund
    Less than 48 hr = No refund
    No Show = No refund

    Boarding on Peak/Holiday dates:
    More than 14 days out = 100% refund
    7 Days or more = 50% refund
    Less than 7 days = No refund

    Daycare cancellation policy:
    Cancellations with less than 48 hour notice will result in daily fee. Why? We have often turned other dogs away and also staffed with the expectation that everyone who reserved is attending daycare.

    *Text reminders are sent 2 days prior. Simple respond NO to cancel upcoming appointment.

  • Cancellation/No Show fees will be applied to the pup’s account when reservations are canceled. A 48-hour notice must be given, or a fee will be charged in the amount of $50.00.
