About · Our Story

How a lifetime
of dogs became
a calling.

Pet Companions Bed & Biscuit was built on nearly thirty years of loving dogs, twenty-five years of learning what genuine hospitality looks like, and one clear decision to combine them.

"Dogs were how we made friends before we had children, and how we kept those friendships. Dog people are something different — a community built on compassion at its most basic level."

— Laurel Britt-Webb, Owner

Thank you for being here. I want to tell you where Pet Companions comes from, because I think it matters to what kind of place it is — and what kind of partner we want to be for you.

I know firsthand how much joy, energy, and unconditional love a dog brings into a family. For us, a dog has always made home feel complete. I also know the very real pressure to feel like you are providing the best care for your furry family member.

Like so many of you, our daily routine was busy and sometimes overwhelming. Three kids, three school schedules, two professional calendars, frequent travel, competing after-school activities, and out-of-state sports events. Five family calendars, most days. Things didn't always go as planned. We had our share of missteps with dog sitters. And we felt guilty every time.

That guilt is what led me here.

Nearly thirty years of loving dogs.

Missy was my childhood Bichon. She would sled down Mont-Royal on my lap in Montreal. She was the first.

Zoe was our loyal Shepherd-Lab mix, adopted when my husband and I first moved to Boston. Our first adventure together as a couple.

Canada was our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, named after the Montreal Canadiens by her previous owners. She had her own bike basket and backpack. She was, without question, our first baby. People looked at us like we were slightly crazy. We didn't mind.

Chloe is our thirteen-year-old scruffy terrier rescue. She brings more joy to a room than almost anyone I've met. She is the dog we have now, and she is very much loved.

Each of these dogs taught me something. What I didn't know, for most of those years, was that the lesson was building toward something.

Twenty-five years learning what hospitality really means.

Professionally, I spent more than twenty-five years in hospitality — building a career around service, relationships, and making people feel genuinely taken care of.

At illy caffè, I managed major national and global accounts, including Marriott International and United Airlines, leading one of the largest partnerships in the company's history. I traveled constantly. I racked up over a million hotel points. I worked alongside some of the most recognizable names in hospitality.

What I kept noticing, through all of it, was this: the best brands had a way of making you feel genuinely known, safe, and cared for, wherever you happened to be. Not just served. Known.

These are the brands and teams that shaped how I think about care, service, and the standard worth building for.

The epiphany that started everything.

The question arrived quietly, somewhere between hotel rooms and airports.

What if someone built that standard for dogs? Not just a place to leave them, but a genuine partner. A team that knew your dog by name, by personality, by quirk, by history. A place where leaving didn't feel like leaving behind.

In June 2023, I bought Pet Companions Bed & Biscuit. Not because I was looking for a quiet chapter. Because I saw the gap between what dog families actually needed and what most facilities were offering. And I knew exactly how to close it.

"Dogs in our care don't just get supervised. They get known. And the families who trust us don't get a kennel. They get a standard."

The early work was real. We strengthened the facility — refinished floors, new bathroom, new air conditioning. We rebuilt the team and enrolled every team member in the Dog Handler Academy. We designed an enrichment-first program around five pillars. We launched tiered daycare. We built SOPs. We invested in our people, not just our physical space.

The result is the Pet Companions you see today. A place where dogs are genuinely known. Where families can leave, and feel good about it.

Pet Companions is not the right fit for every dog. We are honest about that. But if your dog belongs here, you will know it the moment they walk in.
