Supervised Play

At Pet Companions, all daycare dogs interact as one carefully managed pack allowing for natural socialization and a true sense of belonging. Our experienced team observes each dog’s energy, temperament, and play style to help avoid any issues and ensure respectful, safe play. We step in with gentle redirection when needed, fostering a balanced environment where all dogs feel secure and supported.

Midday Rest Periods

To promote balance and recovery, we provide a midday rest time where dogs can relax in a calm, quiet setting. Soft music or Dog-friendly TV plays in the background while lights are dimmed to encourage a peaceful atmosphere. Whether your pup chooses a comfy bed or a familiar crate, this pause in the day helps reset their nervous system and ensures they return to afternoon play with a refreshed mindset.

Structured Enrichment

We believe that a physical and mentally stimulated dog is a happy dog. Throughout the day, we offer a variety of enrichment activities you can select that engage the brain and encourage curiosity, such as scent work, food puzzles, confidence-building games, and agility-style exercises. These moments of focused engagement go far beyond standard play, supporting emotional well-being and reducing overstimulation or boredom.

Loving, Trained Staff

Our team isn’t just trained in dog care, they’re educated in behavior, body language, and stress prevention techniques. With an understanding of canine communication, they tailor interactions based on each dog’s personality and preferences. Our team meets them where they are and ensures they feel comfortable, seen, and understood.

Daily Wellness Monitoring

Every dog in our care is observed for signs of stress, overexcitement, or anything out of the ordinary. From appetite and hydration to energy levels and mood, we keep close tabs throughout the day and document issues for the entire team. If anything is concerning, we’ll promptly update you because we are a team and your dog’s well-being is always our priority.

No two dogs are alike, which is why we approach each one as an individual. Some dogs love to be in the center of the action; others prefer quieter corners or one-on-one interactions. Our team takes the time to get to know your dog’s preferences and gently adapts the environment to suit their needs, ensuring they feel confident, happy, and truly at home.

Behaviorally Aware – Our team is trained and certified through Dog Handler Academy to read canine body language and promote positive, confidence-building social experiences. We also partner with The Dog Wizard of Burlington quarterly for hands-on coaching. Finally, we keep internal records of behaviors that we observe to ensure consistent support and progress for each dog.
Consistency & Routine – We know dogs thrive on structure, so every day follows a predictable rhythm of play, rest, and enrichment.
Tailored Experiences – Every dog is unique, and we can adapt activities to their personality, energy level, and comfort needs. To support this, we use an enrichment survey to keep an updated record of each dog’s preferences and needs in our system.

Transparent Communication – We track all incidents from a minor limp to concerning discharge to an altercation. Reports are sent to all team members immediately allowing us to monitor. We also track how much your dogs eats (or doesn't eat). We will share a formal report with anything we feel needs attention. Over time, we have a history by dog that includes behavior, friendships, favorite enrichment even conversations with you to reference.
Safe, Clean, & Stimulating Environment – Our facility is thoroughly maintained and sanitized with dog-friendly disinfectant. We also installed UV systems that kills >99% of viral and bacterial pathogens for added protection from and peace of mind.
Enrichment-Based Add-On's – Not just play, but play with purpose. Our enrichment sessions are an optional add-on service designed to stimulate your dog’s mind, body, and senses through purposeful and engaging activities from a Superpower Scent room to our Zen room and more in between.

Getting Started Is Easy

All potential guests begin with a Discovery Session to ensure cage-free group play is a safe and positive experience for your dog. This important step helps our team evaluate your dog’s personality, comfort level, and play style in our cage-free environment. This is also your opportunity to visit our space and observe our team.

Your dog’s evaluation includes:
✔️ A friendly meet & greet upstairs one-on-one with our team

✔️ A gradual introduction of your dog to a small group in the yard
✔️ An invitation for you to observation your dog be welcomed in a controlled manner to the pack
✔️ A conversation between us to discuss each of our observations and recommendation based on the introductory

Once approved, your dog will be invited to begin a 30-day probationary period, designed to ensure ongoing comfort, confidence, and compatibility within the group. During this time, our team provides guidance, continued observation, and regular communication with you — so we can address any concerns quickly to make sure your pup is thriving every step of the way.
