In-House Fecal Testing
for Dogs

Convenient, vet-approved parasite screening — right here at Pet Companions. Bring a sample on your scheduled day and we'll handle the rest.

Why regular testing matters

Why

Parasites hide well

Many dogs carry parasites with zero visible symptoms. Regular testing catches problems early — protecting your dog, your household, and their friends at The Biscuit.

Where

Exposure is everywhere

Dog parks, backyards, hiking trails, other pets at home — parasite exposure is part of a dog's everyday life. Routine screening is the best defense.

When

Every 6 months

We require testing every six months for all dogs in our care, in line with guidelines from the Companion Animal Parasite Council.

Testing frequency follows the recommendations of the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC).

How it works, step by step

  • 1 Use the booking form below to schedule a drop-off date. It can coincide with an existing daycare or boarding reservation — or stand alone. When you see a 15-minute time slot, that's simply your drop-off window, not a visit — it only takes a moment to hand off the sample.
  • 2 Collect a fresh fecal sample from your dog and bring it on your scheduled date. We'll take it from there.
  • 3 We send the sample to a nationally certified veterinary laboratory for comprehensive parasite screening and charge you $90.
  • 4 Results typically arrive within 24 hours. We'll forward them to you and update your dog's records automatically.
  • 5 If the result is negative — great! Your dog is cleared for the next 6 months. No further action needed.
  • 6 If the result is positive, we'll walk you through next steps. Your vet will prescribe treatment, and your dog can return once the prescription is completed — no re-test required for 6 months after that.

What if my dog tests positive?

Don't worry — a positive result is manageable. Because Giardia is contagious to other dogs, we do require a negative fecal test result from your vet before your pup can return to us. We've put together a full guide covering what the diagnosis means, how treatment works, and exactly what to do at home. Read the Giardia care guide →
