Healthy from Nose to Tail: Why Vaccinations Matter for Your Dog πΎ
At Pet Companions Bed & Biscuit, we believe every tail wag, park adventure, and cozy snuggle is worth protecting. One of the most important ways you can support your dogβs long-term health and happiness is by keeping their vaccinations up to date.

Why Vaccines Are Essential
Think of vaccinations as your dogβs personal shield. They protect against seriousβand sometimes life-threateningβdiseases like parvovirus, distemper, bordetella, and rabies. These illnesses donβt just affect young puppies; adult dogs also need boosters to maintain strong immunity throughout their lives.
Skipping or delaying vaccines can leave your pup vulnerable, and because some of these illnesses are highly contagious, one case can quickly affect many dogs in a shared environment.
The Benefits of Vaccination
β Protection from serious diseases β Vaccines dramatically reduce the risk of your dog contracting harmful illnesses. Some of these, like parvovirus, can be very difficult and costly to treat, making prevention the best option.
β Community safety β When your dog is vaccinated, theyβre not only protecting themselves but also contributing to the health of every other pup they meetβwhether thatβs at daycare, during boarding, at the dog park, or even on a neighborhood walk.
β Access to services β Most reputable dog care facilities (including ours!) require up-to-date vaccinations. This ensures that every guest enjoys a safe, happy, and healthy experience.
Vaccinations Required at PCBB πΎ
To keep all our guests safe and healthy, we require the following core vaccinations and screenings for daycare, boarding, and enrichment services:
Rabies β Protects against the deadly rabies virus.
DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus) β A combination vaccine that protects against multiple serious illnesses.
Bordetella (Kennel Cough) β Helps prevent the spread of kennel cough, a highly contagious respiratory infection.
Fecal Exam with Giardia Screening β Ensures dogs are parasite-free before joining group play.
Leptospirosis β Protects against a bacterial disease that can spread through water and soil.
Lyme (not required, but highly recommended) β Helps protect against Lyme disease, which is carried by ticks.
π Please note: Puppies must be at least four months old and fully up to date on all required vaccinations before participating in our programs.
Helping Us Help You
Because we care for so many pups, keeping vaccination records current is a big jobβand we truly appreciate your partnership! We kindly ask that you send us your dogβs updated vaccination records promptly whenever they receive a booster or new vaccine.
We know life gets busy, and sometimes our friendly reminders may come more than once. Please know this isnβt naggingβitβs simply our way of making sure your dog (and all of their friends here at PCBB) stays safe, happy, and healthy.
β¨ Pro Tip: Keep a digital copy of your dogβs vaccine records stored on your phone or in your email. That way, youβll always have them handy when needed.
